Things I’ve Learned as a Student
1. Coffee is a perfectly good replacement for meals, vegetable-servings, and any other nutrient of which you have a deficiency (ie all of them).
2. University is not as hard as you think it is. If you more or less know at least half of the English alphabet, and possess basic motor skills, you’re good for at least a B average. I guarantee this. (Note: I do not guarantee this.)
3. The hard part about university, though, is actually sitting yourself down and summoning the willpower to actually get something done. But its only the fact that it has to get done that makes it boring.. Like, if watching television was mandatory, you’d probably opt to write a 2,500 word essay instead, right? EXACTLY.
4. You know at the beginning of every semester, when for whatever reason you feel that THIS will be the semester that you’re organized and you plan out your study schedule and you buy new pens and you get yourself a fancy moleskine day planner with your university’s logo imprinted on it and invest in 6 different colour post-its with matching high lighters and you lay everything out across your desk like you’re on all kinds of crack with obsessive compulsive disorder and you look upon the fruits of your labour and proclaim THIS WILL BE THE SEMESTER WHERE I AM PRODUCTIVE AND EFFICIENT AND SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE I AM ORGANIZED AND COLOUR CO-ORDINATED MOTHERFUCKERS. Give it up. It never works and you know it so stop freaking out and write your notes on the napkins you find in your pockets like everyone else does.
5. Did I mention the coffee thing already? Shit. I’m on my fourth cup today and I am FLYING.
6. Having a blog is a really great way of giving yourself an illusory sense of productivity. Like as long as you’re typing, you’re getting SOMETHING done, right? RIGHT! They don’t even have to be words! Ahsufgdydf. Ffhdy fhduw fhtenas i waanhstf eif, djdw! dysuudyfsi fhdyuwpcoskwfeu; however, didfs glerg merg flerg GELERG merg, right guys?
7. I thought I more things. Whatever. I’ll be back after I’ve had another coffee. Or six…ty.
